Default Pressure Plate - what rating?

Damn. Thought I had all the bugs out of this thing.

I am running a McCleod Long Style pressure plate. Its slipping in fourth gear under full throttle.

The guy I bought the set up from recommended what I think was a 2500 LB unit. He was nervous about anything less.

My mechanic ended up talking us down to 2000 LBs, I think because he probablyl had installation hosed and pedal pressure was too high.

What rating are you guys running with McCleod units?

Any problems?

Maybe my fluid is leaking a bit. Reservoir is a ***** to get at.
Anyone install remote set up. Any easier way to fill those things????

Default Pressure plate

I am completing a rebuild on the engine....My builder was going to replace the Hays clutch/pressure plate with a Centerforce...but went with the Mcleod instead...He says he has a great deal of confidence in the counterweighted unit....I will ask him what the rating is on it.....

What problems are you having with yours...Just the slipping.....Does it pop out of gear, grind or lurch under acceleration?

Thanks for the details,

Mike

Default Pressure Plate

Just slipping under load in 4th. I think I'm concluding that I have a fluid leak somewhere as pedal seems to have sagged a little bit these past few days.

I find adding fluid is just brutal with the tanks under the fender. I think I may ditch the shut off switch that was hooked to the clutch hydraulic fluid reservoir and add an adapter/valve that might enable me to add fluid without opening the reservoir in the tradtional manner. Anybody ever try that.

I found out in the meantime that the pressure plate that is in there is 2400 LBs, which I'd think would be enough........now if I can figure out why the slow leak........

I am almost getting confident driving this thing with a little throttle........street racing starts at BIR in a week or so..........would love to try some quarter miles........
