Unhappy 460 Fluid balancer

I have a question concerning the 460 internal Vs externally balanced engine and the harmonic balancer. I purchased a fluid damper from MustangSupply. This part is listed for use on an internally balanced engine #HBF 460. I know the Ford Morotrsport enginenes are externallly balanced and use a counter balanced flywheel and a counter balance weight on the front. Why cant this fluid damper work on the engine if it is balanced with the flywheel and counter weight. I can't seem to find a fluid balancer that is listed for the externally balanced engine????

Fluidampr balancers can not be re-balanced. Their literature specifically says not to. For FMS engines that are externally balanced, you need to get the dampener spacer that has the external weight on it. The balancers themselves are neutral. Pick up a copy of the Ford Racing Parts 2004 catalog. They have all the parts you will need.

To balance a fluidampner equipped crankshaft, you remove the outer ring from the dampner and balance it (crank) with just the inner hub. When done, reinstall the silicone containing ring onto the hub. That is if the balancer has the counterweighted hub, it sounds like to Ford 429/460 fluidampner is neutral in balance, and it's hub is too. So you need to get the crank internally balanced, which costs an arm and a leg.
