Default Weight difference between FE/Toploader v. 385/TKO

I was curious if anyone knew what the weight difference is between a 385 series big block with aluminum heads and manifold mated to a Tremac TKO (105 lbs.) versus a traditional 427 Side Oiler (not aluminum block) with a vintage Toploader transmission?

You can purchase an all aluminum Toploader from David Kee. The weight is approximately 80 pounds.

Cal, thanks for the reply...was aware of David's aluminum Toploader but was looking more for a comparison of the "traditional" original Cobra setup as it relates to a 385 big block with aluminum heads/manifold plus a Tremac TKOx. Do you know what a standard Toploader weighs?

Thanks

ps btw, an 80 pound toploader with a Keith Craft aluminum block FE engine would be an interesting combination in a CSX/Kirkham/ERA car for sure.

G - Might take a look at my replys to a similar question in the shop talk section of CC. Re: Where to get aluminum engines.

I think a cast iron toploader is about 100 lbs, so the tranny weight difference is basically a wash.

Keith Craft should be able to tell you the weight differences between all the blocks/heads you're looking at, as I beleive he has many of the stuff in stock.
