I picked up a complete 63 406 with a tripower setup for $1500. The 406 had a short life from 62 1/2 till 63 1/2 when it was replaced with the 427. The 406 came with a 4.13 bore the same as a 428. If anything this might be a early 427 your looking at as the 427 was a new casting for 63. Best way to ID this is to measure the bore (4.23 for 427) and get the casting numbers and date code. Some say the early 427's used the 406 block casting but I don't know about this. The 406 is a rare piece as there were not many made because of it's short life. I think production numbers were under 5000 for 406 cars with some service blocks to follow and that is it! So as advised post some numbers and we can help you sort it out. G.
