a stant cap is about as good as you can get, it usely has a little red leaver to let off steam, you maybe overfilling the radiator, once you fill it up let it puke out what it wants to and leave it be, if it doesn't run hot you are OK, you should try and keep it below 220f degrees, if you are running aluminum heads, they simply don't like a lot of heat
