Just a suggestion. Perhaps what you need is a floor jack which can fit under the frame rails:

The one I have is the DK13HLQ. This has a saddle height of about 3 1/2 inches and will lift 2800 lbs. Worked well on both the ERA and the wife's Miata. I've had it about 5 years now with little complaint. I got mine mail order through a New Jersey company (that's the "little complaint" part) but they are available through several mail order companies. It was a bit pricey; I remember spending about $325 for it, but mine came with a set of jack stands that are capable of holding 6000 lbs each.
