I've got a set of yokahama's that are five years + I questioned this topic when I bought them..most tyre dealers said throw them away after five years. (fat chance) I then wrote to several tyre manufacturers and they said to check the tread blocks for cracking and softness. Neither of those symptoms are evident. They have seen sun only on rego inspections. Another call to the tyre makers and they said that the five year "limit" was related to the tyre warrantee not tyre life. Adding to that they were impressed that the tyres are still good and suggest I show them to a tyre fitter to get a final opinion. All I have done is kept them out of the sun & cool and maintained a reasonable pressure...so far so good.
