I make a living from my tools. People walk in off the street, and ask to borrow tools. I never walk into stranger's home, and ask to borrow their wives?
I don't think they mean to be stupid, or inconsiderate! The problem is they don't stop to think. Over the last 30 years I have gotten into many heated exchanges of words, because I refuse to loan tools.
When a friend wants to borrow tools. I tell them to meet me at the shop. I then help them out. I get to keep my tools, and what small number of friends I choose to keep.
