I think the real problem is that joe blow has NO IDEA what a car guy spends on tools! I got rather upset at a neighbor who 'lost' one of my SnapOn wrenches but it worked out..he ran down a truck and bought a replacement and had an eye opening experience!
I got more twisted when I loaned the use of my lathe or mill (a discontinued practice) and it was left filthy with shavings for me to clean up!
