The advantage of having warning lights where you also have gauges, is that you tend to not always notice gauges creeping up, but you certainly tend to notice if a warning light if it pops on. So a warning light is great insurance.

In my experience with a partner driving these things, a warning light is essential as my other half never watches the gauges. But will panic if a warning light appears.
