Extra weight will improve traction. That will improve yout 60' times. But the extra weight will slow you down at the top end, decreasing your ET's.
A Cobra is almost perfectly balanced. It's almost 50/50 F/R, depending on the kit and build. Compare that to a Mustang where the balance is a lot worse. In those cars, you add weight to the back to try and attain that perfect 50/50 balance.
I'm not an expert drag racer by any stretch of the imagination. But I would not add any additional weight anywhere on the car.
I would do a couple of things. First, I would do everything to optimize the suspension - the right shocks and tires front and rear. Disconnect the front sway bar.
You'll want to optimize the turbo tune for drag racing. You want low boost on launch, then have the boost come on like gang busters once you get moving. There must be some way to control the waste gate for this.
Without a full cage, you'll never be able to use that car for it's full potential on a NHRA track. But, without a full cage, why would you?
