Depending on which history book you check some say 1947 and some say 1948......go figure.........LOL




Bill France Sr. promoted racing events on the famous beach course at Daytona Beach, FL. France saw the sport needed organizing and so started the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) in 1947.


When NASCAR was formed in 1948, there was a definite shortage of new cars in the post-war era.
