24 Heures De Floride April 24-26th 2009 run down
The Deep South Cobra Club hosted their first 24 Heures Tour De Florida in April 2009, which was a three-day Cobra tour of Florida with a number of stops and different Cobra groups leaving from all areas of Florida, with all ending up at Old Town at 5pm in time to join the Saturday Nite Cruise. I started out with our southern group at the Ale House for lunch on Friday at the new Gulf Coast Mall. We had planned on traveling across the state on route 41 but because of a very large seasonal brush fire on Alligator Alley we decided to travel north and avoid all the smoke and drive across on route 80 to our dinner and Friday night lodging stop in Fort Lauderdale at the Crowne Plaza. On Saturday morning we made our first stop to see our friends at Backdraft Racing and Reg Dodd and family had coffee and donuts for all plus a few surprises in some new vehicles for sale including a few of their newest acquisition the CAV GT40 replica. We then headed north to Melbourne to meet up with additional Cobras and have lunch at Carrabba’s Italian Grill. At our different stops we had a few Cobra owners stop by and say hi but not continue with us for the entire 24 hour trip but at our final stop in Kissimmee at Old town I counted 50 Cobras one Shelby Tiger and a Superformance GT40 in attendance. Sunday morning we had their continental breakfast at the Comfort Inn located right behind the Old-Town Saturday Nite Cruise location. The part I like best is meeting up with many old friends and meeting many new Cobra owners and making new friends.
