Mine was installed with the transmission out of the car. There are two tech docs on SCOF that provide install instructions with and without removing the tunnel. It sounds like if you install it with the tunnel in place, it could be a bit of hassle and might be helpful to have two people (one below and one above).

Steeda says that their shifters have the shortest throw...not quite sure what that equates to in terms of throw. The throw is noticeably shorter, but its hard to say percentage wise. It's been a year since I started using it, so I don't have a recent comparison.

IMO, the TriAx is easier/smoother to shift overall and the second to third is a lot more natural.
