FE's have a reputation for leaking, so that, in it of itself, shouldn't be a deal breaker for someone out there. Is the block an aluminum CSX block? If so, the early CSX blocks did have problems, which by the drilling of a hole, can be repaired.
First hand knowledge is always better than armchair quarterbacking from CA. That's for sure. Of course, maybe you're "sandbagging" everyone that you can buy it cheaper.
