Default crane cam ?

Have a 428 with a good idle cam , part no. 343801. Been thinking of going to a more lopy idle. Not interesred in racing but like a more rough idle. A friend came up with part no. 344561. There both crane. Any advise on a selection.

If you want a nice lopey idle, in general you want to select a cam with a smaller lobe center angle. Your choices generally run from 108 degrees through 114 degrees. 108 degrees will give you the most lumpy idle while 114 degrees will give you the smoothest idle (all else being equal).

HEY OLBLUE66, YOU ARE VERY WELCOME. ALSO, DID SOME CHECKING ON THEIR RESPECTIVE WEB SITES AND THE CRANE CAM YOU REFERENCE AND THE EDELBROCK PERFORMER RPM HAVE IDENTICAL SPECS. I HAVE HEARD THE EDELBROCK AND IT SOUNDS GREAT AND RUNS GREAT IN A 427. MIGHT USE IT MYSELF.
GOOD LUCK, BYRON W.

Well BYRON , I called crane and talked to them. He advised me to go with a special grind came that they would make. It would give me the same performance the other cam has [ would't loose the bottom end either] Would add more duration giving more lopy idle.

One of the challanges I gave Bill when he designed my stroker was just that, an awesome idle. My lobe center spacing is 107 degrees. I have to adjust my doors a lot.
