Default 1982 AC on ebay - AK1004

Interesting car!
No longer original AK however cool in my book.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Shelb...fCarsQ5fTrucks

Many changes? Not sure if this helps value, looks like owner thinks value has increased with FE, pipes, wheels, and other small odd stuff. Missing all inner fenders and Magneto? I also heard race gas only???? PITA...

This is Karl's "KarlCSX2498" brother.......I've seen the car, really nice AK, is it worth the asking price, not in this economy.......A beautiful car just the same.

Between the green paint and the black paint, there was a period when this car was bare aluminum.

I'm pretty sure Karl once told me that his brother's car was hit during a cruise by another Cobra replica and it was out of commission for a while. Perhaps during the body work it was decided to paint it black.

I only met Karl's brother with this car once, in a parking lot. It was bare aluminum at the time. And I think he was insulted when I asked him if it was a Kirkham. He was telling me it was an AC. And I asked if it was a Brian Angliss car and he said it was, but he was sure to point out that it was not an AC MkIV.

Ah, but it is! It is an early car but it has the PGM (Poly Gel Mitagator) bumper mounts as opposed to the twin bolt Mk III style and no brake/vent openings by the nose. This is a "Buxbaum" car that was imported as a roller. Several were not sold as intended and were converted to 427s, etc. for the buyers. The earliest car I had was AK1013 and I think all the cars up to AK1009 were imported by Richard Buxbaum.

Nice MK III conversion. Hard to tell how much it's worth. Maybe if he had C.S.'s autograph on the title........

Bill

I know about Karl's and dad's cars. Just thought his brother was working on a 289, guess not. I know Karl wants a 289 next, can't blame him. Karl said his brothers car is a beast, does look nice however I did like the BRG SAAC29.

Still like it!

FE powered AKL kinda cool

Of course it's a MkIV! How can it not be? Fifth car built in 1982 and shipped to 'Buxbaum' but my photocopy of the chassis register of the time has no other information about the car wosever.

The SAAC registry shows that it had a 351 at one point, it was in an accident at a racetrack and had webers.

Oh, I just noticed the "buy it now" price, 120k. Well that's a bit much. For that kind of money, I'd expect correct side pipes, not have goofy looking tail lights, have the fuel filler in the correct location and a gold plated 427 SOHC motor.

Actually I do remember seeing a green car with really short side pipes at a car show several years ago. So I may have seen this car prior to the bare aluminum stage as well.

John logs a lot of miles on that Cobra going to Sonic cruise nites and other local gatherings.I asked him about the pipes and he told me he wanted something different that didn't burn your leg getting in and out.
Always sounds great when he shows up.
Good luck with the sale John .
