When you change, the appearance of the car also changes.

Looks good. Where did you get the new trim ring? Cobra Valley is out. I got a leather boot and deciding if I want to install it or wait for the rubber one to fail.

Found a very cool artifact.
My dealer tag from 1985
Not sure I’ll mount it but it’s cool to have.

Well, Jeff...
...I hear that the Old Man of the Mountains doesn't look like that anymore - something about sweet dreams and mountain scenes in pieces on the ground . Oh, I've seen tires and I've seen rain - wait, wasn't that a song or something?
You can't have that on your license plate, as it's false advertising!!
PS I thought I heard that they were gonna fix him up, no?

The rock feature collapsed in 2003. It would not have been possible to repair it. Check out the article on wikipedia

It sure did, Tony! We used to vacation/hike the presidential range up there, so I was aware... sorry to see it go ! In fact, I was shocked when it happened...

I am in the process of the same exact shifter modification..my new shifter boot and ring was purchased via Finish Line....Modern Driveline also has the trim ring and boot, and the shifter. No doubt other suppliers also. Question: How do you remove the OEM stock leather boot? The knob just twisted off of course. The metal plate holding the leather boot to the tunnel is secured by four screws....But I don't know what type, as they are covered by the leather. I tried to insert a long handled screwdriver through the top of the boot opening after removing the shifter knob, but this is awkward at best.....Any tips much appreciated! Brad

Brad,
You might want to consider starting a new thread then resurrecting a thread that has been dormant for years in the case of the original posting date of 2023.
