Balancer's setup for a driver's side timing pointer. If you put one there, it's impossibly hard to see behind the water pump inlet hose, etc. I did that once and vowed to not do it again.
Mat's engine will get a pass side pointer and the marks have to be adjusted accordingly. The MSD timing tape is a lot easier to read as well, especially when the engine is down in the engine bay.
