I guess down '010" is 'old fashioned' these days. It's what I'm used to but those were warrantied crate motors. We did only a few custom builds and yours are all custom builds.

Assembled Pond heads...
Got them finished up last night. Dropped a valve lock down an unplugged water hole between the springs and shook the head for a good 5 minutes to get it out. Too bad I didn't have any Polaroids, I could have multitasked.
Hope to get the rotating assembly to the balancer by Monday. Then stuff gets real.

Brent, The picture doesn't show very well but it appears the Robert made some changes to his block since I got mine 5-6 years ago. My lifter bores all have thick-walled silicone bronze inserts (with beautiful cross-hatching). It appears that the block pictured just has raw aluminum lifter bores. Am I not seeing the block well??
I always liked the fact of the bronze walled lifter bores, seemed much better than "lesser" blocks with raw aluminum lifter bores.

Well, this isn't a "lesser" block, but there are not any lifter bore bushings. I've went through a bunch of these and Robert has never sent them with bronze bushings.
Chances are, you got one that leaked water when pressure tested, and bushings were installed to seal it up.
On extreme applications with a tremendous amount of lift, or where the lifters are very tall, bushings can be installed to keep everything stable at max lift.

Haven't ordered some of the drivetrain stuff yet, but I think all the engine stuff is here. Will have to have one valve cover flange on the intake cut down but that's about it.

Sorry, didn't mean to pee on anyone's parade with the "lesser" statement...
There's a water jacket near the lifter bores?? I can't say for sure, but the sleeves didn't really look at like a water leak band-aide. In fact, as I recall at the time, Keith made mention of the "niceness" of them too. Maybe Keith installed them?
How long have you been using Pond's blocks? This sort of bugs me, I think I'll call Robert & Keith to discuss tomorrow and see if those once were the standard bill-o-fare.

I've been using them for several years. I'll have to look back at my notes and see when I built the first one.
Turns out, the first one that I used, I had it pressure tested (standard fare for all aftermarket blocks I use, stems from my experience with Dove products) and it bubbled up through a couple of lifter bores. They back up against the water around the cylinders and if there's any porosity, they will bubble out there.

Well, it's been a long time coming....
Had some minor technicalities with some parts, but finally got everything straightened out and moving forward.
Dyno'ing on the 22nd.

I'm a patient man... Really I am...
But it's nearing the 24th here (at least where I live), and I'm dying to know how it all went.

Had some rocker arm issues, so we are changing some parts around and gonna go back for a second go at it. We were at 630 hp, turning all accessories. Just didn't get a lot of time to try different things yet.

Dyno on the 22nd...!
Gives us just enough time to play - guess the hp/tq figures.
I'll guess: 666hp with 666tq with a sinister engine note.
Just cos it sounds like one hell of a build!

Well it's been a sinister build for sure....hahaha
Torque would never be as high as the horsepower on a build like this, and I've never seen a 480-500 inch FE have over 600-620 lb-ft of torque on a normal hydraulic roller build.
We use a Stuska dyno, which shows anywhere from 25-50 hp lower than the DTS and Superflow stuff, so I told Jeff I was going to stay conservative on my guess.
