Evan mentions the SAAC World Registry. The new Registry, page 708, describes the 4000’s series as “component” cars”. This may be in keeping with the same term now used by Shelby Autos rather than "continuation". This was mentioned in another thread.

Continuation Cars

I would attach a picture of the Registry page but it is copywritten material.

My Cobra is registered as a 1966 automobile. If the government has more authority than the SAAC, does that mean my car is more "real" than Evan's?

Of course, one can see a million holes in the above paragraph.

I know we are getting away from the original post, but I don't much care what the "status" of my car is. I wouldn't trade it for Evan's or anybody else's. It has too many good memories for me, and I hope more to come.

I built it myself and I'm proud of that. My father, who is now almost blind and will be turning 83 this year, joined me in my first trip to Connecticut back in 1994 to help bring back the body and some of the parts. Made him feel like he was a little part of the project. He used to bring his friends over to have a gander at the car during the build, and many times since the car was finished as well.

Scouring the countryside for FE parts are excursons I won't forget. Met lots of great people. Some wern't so great, but the common interest was there and all adventures went well.

I had my friends drop in during the build as well, and there were many evenings I didn't get a lot accomplished at times due to that...LOL. My son is keen on the car, as are my relatives, particularly my brother who gave me my first copy of Kit Car magazine. Even my neighbours like it. They know the sound and wave if I drive by. Sort of a little something to talk about in the rural community where I live.

So, even though I know people are really asking "Is it original?", when they phrase it "Is it real?", I need to answer, "No, it's a replica I built myself", and not say "No, it's a fake"

So I think I'm finished with the first question...now about that "Why doesn't it have a stereo?" question............LOL.

And isn't it true that owners of true, original CSX2xxx & CSX3xxx cars laugh at the notion that the continuation cars are "real Cobras?"

Are there not 3 catagories: Original, 2nd Generation and Replicas?
That's how I understood it.

Please correct any false statement:
They are all "REAL" (as in "not a figment of your imagination").
They are all real...fast (for the most part).
They are all real...fun to drive (for the most part).
They are all real...unusual (not every one has one).

I guess my attitude is that everyone just needs to appreciate and enjoy what they have. If they appreciate what someone else has, that's great and if they don't, no one cares anyway.

No. It is more important to beat the other guy -- at everything, including arguments. That's the Cobra owner's creed.

Default A Truthful Answer...

Let me make it clear A-Snake did not email this to me:

"Of course we laugh, but we laugh privately. They are the step-children of the family, but family they are. We try to be respectful, but when they are not around we do laugh at how they diddle about their cars being real Cobras."

Please, shoot this thread and the horse it rode in on. Where's that little icon thingee where someone is beating a dead horse. Oye vey.

Maybe we need someone, let's say Ron, to "change the tone of the debate." We then present him with the Nobel Peace Prize for what Ron intends to do in the future with these threads.

Argess, your thread is fine, but somehow Evan finds them and they detour into a debate over whether the new CSX4000 Shelby Cobras are "real", "component", "replica", "continuation" "tribute", which in turn brings Evan back with his quotes from the SAAC registry.

All of sudden, it's not about ERA's, Hurricanes, BDR's, SPF's KMP's, Unique's, FFR's, JBL's, etc., but ONLY about CSX's and EVAN.

Yeah, I know Rod. He likes his car. I like mine. You like yours.

I doubt his views will change, so I don't bother. Personally, I'd like more details on his engine, but that's for another thread.

I wonder where in NJ he is. My first wife was from Upper Montclair. Nice place. A lot of money there. Going to visit her grandmother in East Orange was interesting.

Boy, this is comical I truthfully have'nt laughed this hard from stuff on this site in quite some time.

You guys go on and on about how I detour threads and inevitably raise the Continuation series issue when I didn't even raise it. You guys detoured this thread and I sat back and laughted. Moreover many individuals have posted over and over again and many more times, read as many many many more times then I did on this thread alone on the issue you keep complaining about. Yet the finger points back at me with all this posting.

You guys crack me up! Seriously.

Yup, you guys are free to have your own opinions. You can annoint yourselves experts in the Cobra realm. You guys can even look to the Vatican for their view.

You guys are a scream

I'll stick with SAAC's position thanks.

Oh, Paul F. As to that 12 year old asking me if its a "Real Cobra". I tell him "yes it is, its a Continuatoin Series Shelby Cobra" because it is. Simple question simple answer.
