Rock guard for radiator
I have seen some posts that speak of this but had a question. With all the different manufacturers out their, the 427 grill opening on most replicas is basically the same size and shape. Does anyone have plans or has anyone bought a tangible piece with attachment points to use for this purpose? I know this would be a good seller if someone makes it. I would liketo buy something to fit my B&B if one is available. any suggestions?

This may be what you need. This product is good enough for circle track racers.

rock guard
I bought a piece of stainless mesh and welded a 1/4" rod around the perimeter. Mounted it in front of my radiator. Look good and keeps large bugs, bird and rock out of my radiator.

Dwight,
do you have any details on the mesh size that you used?
Expanded metal as is shown in your picture typically has an open area of around 60%. Did you notice any change in your cooling?

No change in cooling. And I drive in 95 degree weather here in Alabama.
I think I bought a 24" x 24" piece but cut it down a little. Take a piece of cardboard and cut it to fit. Don't make it to big or you will not be able to put it in from the front. Remember that you only need to cover the part of the radiator that you can see as you squat down and look at the car. You should be able to mount it with stainless bolts, washer and tubing. Use the tubing for stand offs. Worst case you may have to get someone to weld mounting tabs on it.

I noticed you have a Hurricane. Coach Mike installed mesh in his Hurricane for a rock guard. He has a stroked 428 and does not have an over heating issue.
Look at the upper radiator mount located in the center. That is easy to mount to.
In the second picture you can see the lower part of the radiator mesh. He used the same bolts that hold the radiator in.

I bought my metal from a local mechanic contractor shop. Several of the guys who work in the shop are hot roders so they under us. They have build us aluminum gas tanks, battery boxes, glove boxes and other Cobra parts.
You can check out McMaster and see what you like.

Paul the picture I took is to large to post here. If you will email me, I will send the picture to you. The mesh is 1/8" thick with 1/4" x 3/4" openings.
