Connecticut dmv change
I read in a Hotrod newsletter that CT DMV will recognize kit/replicas cars that represent the year the original was made. This means Cobra replicas can be registered as for example 1965 with Early American plates and not have to go through emissions. This supposedly cleans up a very gray area for CT. I have not confirmed this. Any input? I wish R.I would pick up on this. I was lucky to have my car registered in CO as a 1965 with a MSO and R.I just followed along.

Still a big circle-jerk. Legislation passed to register kit cars as year-of-manufactured originals, but DMV has not yet adapted any new change. They still refer them as 'composite' with assigned year as that of original registration. We do, however, remain exempt from emission testing.

RI already has the law on the books... CT is in the process of figuring it out.

Cashburn, what would you pay for taxes on a 1965 Cobra replica in RI? What do they assess it at? or how for that matter. I know if you have a dual registration you need to get the cobra inspected.

That's great to hear! Maybe some of the more "forward/backward" states will come to their senses....Not likely

Any guess as to how long it will take CT to give allow the "composite" owners to get an Early American plate as they call it?

I am about 2 weeks away from fighting that battle with a customer. I need to track down this newspaper article. I'm sure the DMV clerks will believe that before they ever believe me with the bill in my hand...
