Pro Systems or Quick Fuel Carb?
Which of these would you recommend to replace the Holley Street Avenger on my Roush 427 SRTW and why? Double pumper only with no choke. Which model would you recommend also?
My objective is to have a super responsive street rod and to get a carb that is dialed in as close as possible when it arrives.
I have already ordered the 3 inch side pipes to free up that restriction, now its time to work on the carb.

I'm kinda biased since I sell Quick Fuel stuff, but they are all that I use on customer engines.
I would say that both carbs are good carbs and I consider Quick Fuel to be about the best you can buy.
On a side note, I've had nothing but trouble out of Demon carbs....every one I've ever used required repairs before I could send them out.
I would recommend the Q-850 for your application.

Pro Systems will build a carb specifically for your car. You'll have to give Patrick lots of info about your engine, car, location, driving needs but the carb will really be dialed in when you get it.

Pro Systems all the way. Patrick will dial you right in.
Also, in case you were looking at Barry Grant, I just heard that they shut their doors two weeks ago.....

Pro Systems or Quick Fuel Carb?
Running a Pro-systems, the dyno guy commented how well it ran on the 373, compared to fuel injected engines he normally dynos. Keith Craft did a good job on this engine!

I have had two Pro-Systems custom Holleys, no choke. The engines got chassis dyno'd the week the Pro Systems went on the engine - both were perfect right out of the box . Starts right up after long storage . Is great thruout entire rpm range .
I am not dissing Quick Fuel carbs as I am not familiar with them - but can recommend Pro- Systems based on my experience . Bill.

I've got a pair of QuickFuel custom built 750's on my 482 and they work perfectly, pulled a 12.8 AFR @ WOT on the chassis dyno with a text book 14.4 at part throttle/idle.
I gave QuickFuel all my data prior to the build, car weight, driving style, tranny gearing, final drive ratio, displacement, head flow, cam, compression, single plane manifold, aluminum flywheel/stick etc. They did a darn good job of hitting the nail on the head with the carb builds.

i suggest stan justus. bought one of his carbs second hand and he offered to replace the butterflies free of charge if the idle holes were too large, plus any other tuning, just pay shipping. hands down would be my choice. does a lot of modifications to the carbs to make them liveable on our karts.
btw, i have a pro systems i'll sell, i'll put all the parts back on as purchased, cheap.
bg makes their parts "in house" in a general sense to their specs and are better quality then standard issue holley which pro systems uses.
have a couple bg rr carbs, have ran well and no big issues, good quality and better adjustability on the metering blocks then the pro systems.

You'd better take a poll and see what people think of BG's quality, quite a few would say pure crap.

i know. i've read lots of that. i think the carb thing is pretty close to hit-n-miss anyway, unless you get into the top-flight stuff.
i have both sitting out there, maybe when i get some time i'll take pics of both for comparison and post. i'll put in the stan justus carb also.

I have been hearing that BG apparantly called it quits a couple of weeks ago. This resulted in Pro Systems staying real busy keeping up. Alot of folks are coming to him....

I had my FIA chassis dyno tuned at Mustang Specialties in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. They work on almost exclusively, ford motors - a lot of dragsters etc etc. They recommend Pro Systems as the best available. They send Pro Systems the specs and the carb arrives perfectly set up. I have a Quick Fuel Tech carb on my 331 Keith Craft Stroker. They adjusted it - and said it's fine. But if you are buying a new one for any reason - Pro Systems is the way to go.

So far, Pro Systems is the runaway winner.
And the last carb I bought was a BG and I had to take it apart first and blow out all the shavings from the various ports and jets before I dared to put it on the engine. It did run great until the throttle started sticking and I had to replace the baseplate, Then ran great till I sold the car. No more BG's for me thank you!
Pro Systems 7. Quick Fuel 2. So far.
Now, which model?

Jim,
I suggest you talk with Patrick at ProSystems to help you make your choice on which carb.
We went through several manufacturers/sizes/models of carbs while my engine (when first built) was on the dyno (several times over a couple of weeks) while resolving carb and cam issues.
The final choice was when I talked to Patrick at ProSystems. He asked me to complete a detailed spec sheet on my engine:
http://www.prosystemsracing.com/quote.html
After talking with me and looking at my spec sheet, Patrick decided on a Holley 1000cfm 4150HP, which he modified with his "magic" and speciality parts. Initially I was concerned the carb would be too large for good low-end street performance. I should have known better....this guy knows what he is doing! The carb was amazing. Bolted it on the engine on the dyno and the only thing we had to touch was a slight tweek to the idle screws. The jetting and air bleeds were absolutely perfect. It has been great on the street with good low end response. Like I said....this guy knows what he is doing!

Another vote for Pro Systems. Patrick replaced my Holley 830 with a 750 and it was perfect right out of the box. The throttle response improved tremendously and it felt a bit quicker as well.

Jason,
are you parting with the 830 then? Is it the HP version and if so, what model #,? How old, etc? I've had really good luck with my 830 setup with my cam/heads, etc. If you are getting rid of it I'll keep it in the back of my mind to have a 2nd carb to tweak with to have one set up for Winter and one for Summer driving so I don't have to rejet for Summer.

Dont want to get too off subject here. But I have a 427 srtw making 467 @ the wheels and I run a 950cfm holley 4150 hp no choke. 71's in primaries and 76's in secondaries at sea level. We spent alot of time on the dyno. My 427 srtw also has a vic jr intake.
I love the carb.... very smooth throughout the whole power band. NO hesitation. I hated the 750 street avenger. We could never get the hickup out of it.
Some say 950 cfm is too much carb... No way. Fords like alot of carb compared to a SBC. A 427 has no prob swallowing all that air. Also, you can see from the dyno sheet that it makes over 400 rwtq at just 2500 rpm.
I hope this helps with your decision.
