Just for fun ! All around mid forties for a roller ERA/SPF/CSX Whats your choice ? what options?
SDR ________ SUBARU TECNICA INTERNATIONAL HISTORY |
All of the above. For price it's SPF, ERA, CSX. For quickness in getting the car it's SPF, CSX, ERA. Regardess, I'd get a Roush SB stroker with a reasonable OD. I want to turn around 1,900 at 60MPH. What are guys getting for wheels now-a-days, 15, 17?
Just my opinion, Bob |
I'll answer your question with a question, "Have you even personally looked closely at all three (in the flesh), or are you just performing a quick straw poll?"

I'd be surprised if you can find a new painted roller in ERA for the same price as a new SPF roller. CSX are more expensive for various reasons. There are numerous threads on this web site that discuss (debate?) the nuances between the three you have narrowed your search to. You really can't go wrong with any of them. All I tell people is to LOOK at as many as they can and buy as much car as they can afford. You generally get what you pay for in this hobby and that rule-of-thumb applies in most cases. Good luck in your search/decision!

I guess the hypothetical 40's...:LOL:
ERA factory built as an example? (Home built depend on builder talent) Originality standpoint: CSX ERA SPF Vintage racing standpoint: CSX as I think they are allowed to compete. CS has pull...... Quality: Each have strengths Registry and gas station appeal; CSX! Is it real? Is it a real 427? etc..... |

SPF= not made in U.S.A.
it is going to be nice to have a turnkey minus Cobra that is going to be built in the U.S.A. by Hurricane... |
ERA...go look at them...talk to the owners, drive one, meet the builder...SPF is nice but its more of a production build vs. ERA...ERA is a custom built car, you can taylor it to your taste, or you can build a 289 or an FIA car with them...most of the 427 ERA's have big blocks..the owners strive for originality..SPF are fitted more with custom small blocks 351's punched out to 427 etc...in the end they are all nice, they are all going to deliver fun, it just depends on how close to the original car you want to be....Its tough to get a ERA roller (painted etc) for mid fortys there is no discounting, and its a 6 month to a year waiting process (trust me i know)...however a SPF can be purchased as a "discounted" roller for mid $35 with more options as standard (like a soft top)...i'll probably get flamed on this but I just went through this same process
