Driving your Cobra in the snow......
I have seen the pictures and videos of the guys up North
racing on the snow and ice in Cobras, so I just had to give it a try.
They finally plowed our streets after the 8 inch snow storm.

Only 8 inches ? Here in Syracuse we don't bother measuring snow in inches....just feet....about 16 ft a year !! Looks like you had fun though ...good job !!

Anyone know what is cobra speed record on ice?
This "track" where this video below is made is about 10 miles from my home. Now temp here is -20celsius so "track" could be ok for test run (but my build is a bit ongoing but maybe some year I go to that "track"....)

I was expecting to see donuts and your car sideways the whole time.
I live on a cul-de-sac and always have to do a donut before I pull my truck in the driveway. I have not been manly enough to take my car out yet. Maybe next storm you have inspired me!

So have the nice men in white jackets showed up at your front door yet?!?
I think at the 48 second mark you goosed it slightly around that cul-de-sac and induced a 2 inch slide.

Thats the only thing that would work and it would be marginal at best.Sure would be a miserable ride on bare roads, not to mention you would have to jack the car up away from the tires to clear the links flying around.Would that be considered a RedNeck move? Yee Haa!!

It just got me to thinking about the time I tried riding one of my Harleys all year long.Actually wrapped rope around through the spokes and tire once to get home in a snow storm.Did okay until almost home, slowing down hit a patch of ice trying to keep the bike up,pulled a groin muscle.Yup, Yee Haa

Driving a Cobra in the snow is akin to walking on stilts across a frozen lake.

Only 27 degrees?
It was 22 this morning and the Cobra started after a little cranking.
My drive is mostly ice right now.
Waiting on the next storm, that's when the going gets interesting.

as a good friend from canada answered my question "how do you know when the ice on the lake is too thin"- she answered - "when the tourist start falling though" why would you take a cobra out in weather under 40 degrees.

Dave, you need to turn the engine off and go back in the house and start writing another book. By the way have you read "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein?
Intresting view as told by Enzo.

Snow is one thing and not likely to be a very good driving experience. Not to mention the salt/ice melt crap they put on the roads out here.
Cold is another. I'd much rather throw on a warm jacket, hat and gloves and drive my car all winter. Well worth it. Heck, I don't even have a heater (although the 427 provides some heat). Otherwise I'd have to stay in and post on CC all winter like Patrickt does to pass the time. Oh and lament another 'skins losing season....

Driving a Cobra in the snow is definately an "experience". Perhaps not suitable for many, but it definately fine tunes your driving skills.
I am one of the few who regularly drive in the snow during the winter months. The hardtop is probably no warmer than the convertible top in the winter, but it "looks" warmer
I regularly drive my SPF to work, in up to 2-3" of snow ON the road. Steering input is the most exciting part, as once there is more than an inch of snow on the road, it tends to ride on top of the snow. Any large, sudden steering inputs make little difference in the direction you are headed.
So you take your turns in a wider radius, and use the throttle when neccesary, to complete the turn.
It is exciting, but I have been doing it for 8 years now. Still just as exciting as the first year!
I run Yoko Avids, which give good snow traction in the rear (for a Cobra, anyways). Not sure what I will run next, once my current set wears out.
The salt and whatever else they put on the road does take a toll. I call it "patina". My spring cleanup is probably a little more intense than most!
To each his own. I enjoy hearing my new Roush motor almost every day!
