Default Jay Leno - In Search of Hollywood's Hidden Street Circuit

This was pretty fun to watch. Jay Leno takes the 2010 Gullwing Mercedes for a spin on Mulholland Drive.

I like that idea

Of course when I first moved to Albert Park (Melbourne) in the late '80s I thought that the road around the lake would make a great track - turns out it wasn't an original thought....

Doug,

That was a good video. I see the streets in downtown Hollywood are even worse than the last time I was there. And Mulholland ( spelling ) Drive doesn't look much better either. But if I had that car I wouldn't worry about the streets. I heard that they may be going to bring him back on the Tonight Show. Anyone else heard that rumor?

Cool video ! I grew up in Burbank, Mulholland Drive and Sunset were part of our Friday and Sat. night cruise. There was always somebody racing and getting busted or killed racing their car or motorcycle on Mulholland. We also used the "River Road for drag racing (Forest Lawn Drive). The "River road" as we call it was located in the LA City and just across the LA River from Burbank. The kids from Burbank and elsewhere could race for qiute a while before some resident from Burbank would call the LA cops and then the place would get busted.
Oh, the Sixties were fun !

Mulholland isn't too bad, pavement-wise... the worst paved area is Laurel Canyon, from Mulholland down to Sunset... but it's a fun drive! I figured he would drive the OTHER section of Mulholland, & head out to Malibu. Fun stuff, tho-

Doug...great video...thanks for posting. If you guys think those streets are in bad shape...come take a trip to the D. Driven in many states...and our Michigan roads in certain areas are about the worst I have seen.

That engine does sound pretty mean. I'm not that hot about the looks of the car, but it probably goes like a bat out of hell and has a traction control system that almost drives the car.

The Benz is neat but what would be even better would be to see, and hear, Jay make the same run in his Cobra ... now that would be really cool

They announced this morning that Jay is definitely out for the 10pm show. They (NBC) are working on giving him the old spot at 11:30pm Pacific time, but only for 1/2 hour. He doesn't always get along with NBC. I wonder if he'll take the number "10" off the Cobra now. That 10 was a big part of their pitch when he moved to the 10 o'clock primetime slot.

Variety reports that it is a done deal. Leno for 1/2 hour and Conan for 1/2 hour. Both had poor ratings with the current arrangement. Another brilliant executive decision; screw something up and then, to fix it, make it even worse.
