regardless how it was brought into canada, 30 large is not even anywheres close to what it will cost to buy a csx roller. everyone wants the best car for the least amount of cash, in reality i think you need to wake up and either save up for it, or move on to a cheaper kit, there are cobras out there..for 30 grand, but i dont think your going to find one with the quality and finnish of an spf or a csx, try looking in Autotrader.ca

again back to the same pile..... its in the US. heres a thought... buy one trailer it to canada, but make sure you get the shipping company to bond it to the city u live in so that they do not inspect it at the border, they will contact you to inspect the car .... then hope and pray that they dont know all the crap there is with this car in canada. and if that passes... hope they dont ever catch on and come knock on ur door to take ur car away for it not being allowed in canada

Can someone "connect the dots" for me? |
From my understanding csx 4995 paid close to $140,000.00 for that car by the time it was all said and done. That is a far cry from the amount of low to high $30s you have in mind.I really do honestly think you should look for a spf or equivelant already here in canada, some do pop up occasionally.
But you will be paying $55 to $85 easily. Some of the cars you mentioned previously ,are rollers for that price.Plus motor plus tranny plus converting currency plus shipping plus our lovely government laws. Just something you may want to think and consider? |

The whole video/CSX deal is to highlight the fact that someone got a CSX roller into Canada, so hence there must be a strategy to get say an SPF or BDR roller into Canada. The numbers don't add up to buy a roller and build a car, so he needs to buy a pre-owned car. We are in an endless loop here. **) Time for the next shift to take over....SDR may be logging in again soon. |
He is trying to convince himself that someone else did it so it MUST be legal.
Even when presented with the facts, he continues to avoid reality. The reality is some folks have devised a method of slipping around the rules & perhaps that works for them, but I could not enjoy myself waiting for that knock on the door. Maybe I just worry too much about doing things by the regulations, but I sleep very well. Craig |

Thanks got the bug good synopsis , the linked cars are SPF's all with miles on them , so not rollers . ask price's are low 40's mid 30's . I was hopping someone could give me some new info on importing . No luck . I have sent a couple of e-mails , so I will keep you informed if I learn something new . You may of noticed I have got the bug ;) . I blame the average age thread , everyone saying "I should have done it sooner" so I decided screw it ! this spring its time . I'm on-line , on-CC alot because I just started the Mr.Mom thing, not use to the freedom/spare time . Thanks for all your kind words and support .;)

Unless it was BUILT more than 15 years ago, ANY CSX is illegal in Canada.

If FFR has the Canadian importation thing down, then they certainly should have a leg up in your Cobra decision. |
Buy Used In Canada!
I know where there is a FF5 within a one hour drive of you that is for sale. It is one of the best sorted out cars that I know both auto cross champ, solo 1 champ and a plated car from the Targa Newfoundland. The price is very good and I can put you in touch with the owner if you are interested. It was built before the new Transport Canada rules and is titled as a 65 in Ontario so insurance is not a issue. The car was put back to street shape and freshened up.
