I notice they don't mention any 0-60 times?
How do you get in? Looks like you might have to clamber over the side and then under the lift-up canopy? What happens in a rollover? Is there some escape route other than through the one on top?
No rear bumpers? What would it look like in a legal version? Couldn't they make it a tandem so you could carry at least one passenger?

It hardly goes over 60, so I'm thinking you could use a sun dial to time it....

so you're saying a nitrous kit and/or (larger) turbo, maybe another whole engine (which would bring your mileage down to "only" 129 mpg?

The rear end design looks like it was first scribbled out on a napkin by Peter Brock.
...hey, wait a minute, last time he did that it turned out pretty good.

Says LA to NY on 10 Gallons. Where are you gonna get two Americans that will fit in it?
None the less, I applaud VW for pushing the envelope! We need vehicles like this for utilitarian purposes.

Actually old news.
2002 design.
The release for production will be quite a bit different.
Things have changed.
Now it is a hybrid with many options.
I think it is excellent concept from a pure engineering standpoint.
Maybe not fun for the type of folks here however.

So Tom. Is that the NEW item at your get together in March? In aluminum of course.

Haven't seen you around for a bit Richard, nice to have you drop in.
Ah, I see the mpg may vary with the final design and specs. Still, pretty extraordinary!

Obviously developed around the remains of a crashed Messerschmitt 109 cockpit.
I wonder if the registration plate 'WOBBLE ONE' is trying to say something?

Tom,
I just can't force my way into buying one.... I'll have to continue my contribution to global warming.
Although... If you get one and put it on blocks for 50 years I bet it'll be worth something.

Upon further review, I was too harsh with my earlier "fugly" assessment. It is clearly function over form and asthetically challenged.
There...I feel better now.
