I suspect FFR thinks a "very big surprise" is a little more than just a marketing promotion for a new megabuck Ford crate engine.

I wonder if Caesar's will take a bet on whether FFR is announcing a 289 on 2/13?

Word is that the new mk4 kits start shipping late March, [jedi mind trick on] with the 289s following shortly thereafter[/jedi mind trick off]. Two of the early mk4 kits are coming to locals here in Central FL. I don't know them but I already told them I was coming over. They don't mind. That's cobra people for ya'.

There's only one company that can use the term authentic in regards to the body, and they are no longer in business...

Jay,

I think what jmimac351 meant was, the more authentic body (meaning more authentic than the previous MKIII) on the new MKIV frame. At least that's the way I read it.

Jay, fyi... I'll be down in Boynton in the next month or so to see my buddy Richard Bailey and visit with Reg Dodd about a TD car. I'd like another cobra and the TD car could fit a dual-purpose application of street and track car which could potentially take the place of my Panoz - and save space and $$$. The reason I am considering that is because Reg supports his product so well and the product is solid. Now this is coming from a guy who's made it pretty clear he's interested in a 289. Well, I have a decision to make on whether I want to go to the track more or have an..."authentic looking" ... "cobra" more.

Your product is a lot different than what FFR is doing and I think caters to a totally different customer. I'm not sure why you are sniping in here with these comments but it's not the sort of thing I'd expect Reg to do, that's for sure.

The current manufacturers who splashed their body mold from an actual original body.......they don't count as being "close" to an original?

Notwithstanding that, there's some debate elsewhere about whether this mk4 is an "exact" copy of the #198 / late Dick Smith car. One guy is claiming he was told expressly by Dave Smith earlier this week that it is an exact copy. To others it looks slightly different (I agree). Pictures are a funny thing though. It'll be interesting to see what's what next weekend.

You mean the same guys that stay clear when customers need assistance, guidance, or have issues to solve with their product? The beauty of this forum over the other one is it does not belong to any one manufacturer and is open for discussion with a lot less slant.

As for the claims on the body shape, that would be very easy to prove if you did in fact digitize the source body. So?

Standard IRS (what a car of this nature needs) would be a far greater feat.

Have a question, will the new MK4 by FF5 make the original FF5 "perky Butts" the originals and increase their respective value.
Will the MK4 be known as the Continuation car? HARRRRR!

All FFR's are very cool machines and I see no problems with their changes.

You can still digitize a car and then make changes to fit your application. The great thing about today's modeling software is that it allows the user to tweek and not lose critical proportions. In other words, and as an example, If FFR needed to length the vertical space between the bottom of the door to the bottom of the sill to fit their frame mounting points, they could enlarge the entire area from the top of the door to the bottom of the sill and forward to the front wheel arch so they keep the relative shape and perspective and the changes become less notable.

You really believe that? You really believe that what they've been able to accomplished is far less of a feat than making IRS standard rather than optional? Nonsense. The same could be said about struts vs. A arms. Regardless, I believe the FFR Spec series still require solid axle.

The additional beauty of this forum is that you can quickly distinguish between those who have first hand experience and those that may be biased for one reason or another.

I guess the Fall Foliage Cruise won't be including FFRs any longer.
