A previous poster referenced Abraham Maslow's work, so I did a quick review of the hierarchy of needs presented in his 1943 paper, A Theory of Human Motivation and found the below chart. The man was clearly ahead of his time.
I was very close to selling my SPF before coming to my senses.
Patch the roof. Forget the fence. Sweat a little. Buy the car.

If you can afford it, and it won't cause a divorce, go for it.
Life is short, and dreams too few, make memories while you can.

The best advice is to only buy a Cobra if it essentially does nothing more than change some numbers on some papers (your financials, that is). Do not buy it if it affects other parts of your financial life. And only you know the truth on whether it will or not.

Thanks, Doug.
Luckily, I took it out for one last run before accepting an offer to ship it off to France. (Je suis désolé que la transaction soit annulée!) Misbehaved badly on the Florida turnpike with a Maserati, Mustang GT and a couple rice rockets and had the epiphany that an occasional, flat, solo Cobra run is way better than no Cobra run at all.
Now if I can just scrape up the money to get the damn roof repaired...

Danger, please don't let the "high spirited banter" dissuade you from participating on this forum. These cars are a tremendous amount of fun, and this forum is too. Some of the guys here have "hair triggers," but sometimes I think that can kind of go with the "Cobra personality." Deep down, though, you won't find a finer bunch of guys -- and Red's included in that, too.

As I sat in front of a piece of paper trying to figure out if buying my first Cobra was a good idea, my wife came up and said "Just buy it will ya!"
And I did and we drive three days a week together in it. She loves it almost as much as I do.
And, the house needs painting, the patio needs to be refinished, the bathroom needs renovating, the interior needs to be repainted, etc.
Maybe next year!
Priorities!

What a difference a day makes. Let's sing Kumbaya now!
I'm just happy that Patrick didn't exclude me in his mea culpa speech.
