Question Vintage ad photo needed.

Hello to all from a newbe. I am seeking, and have been for some time, using search functions nonetheless, for a black and white. It shows Carroll in front of a slab sided Cobra. He is in a sport coat. I think he has a hand in the pocket and is looking away from the camera smiling. The car is very dark, has white walls and spokes.

I want this picture because I want to order this car. I like the idea of the gentleman and his period English (hic) steed at the ready.

I also like the understated elegance of the demure car as opposed to the testosterone pumped (flame suit on) later cars.

Any and all help is very much appreciated indeed.

Default Not the one.

Thanks John for taking a stab at it. The picture is great and nice to see again.

The one I'm lookin for is probably the same car. I seem to remember the wing windows but not positive. It has the same impression for sure.

The photo I'm looking for has Carroll in front of the car by himself.

Worth it just to see this picture of Carroll with Steve McQueen again. Thanks.

John,

While I believe this is the same car, I want the other photo because I would like to have it framed. If I could have it autographed that would make it even more special to me for sure.

Thanks again.

Default 1 : 1 scale.

Yes I'm looking for a full scale model. My hope is to order the car at Shelby American.

I was there a year ago and met with Amy Boylan who was very nice. My hope is that on the next trip I take a check and may get to meet Mr. Shelby.

The car would be very early. I am looking at wheel well details now and will probably need assistance on tires vs. wheel wells.

Thanks for the try, but that's not it.

He would be 30 years younger, without the hat and in a sport coat. I think it was used in an advertisement. The year must have been 62 or 63.

Thanks everyone for your responses. It's nice to see these photos that I have never seen before. I should have thought of the photojournalist angle.

It had occurred to me that it may be someone's property. I'm happy to pay for it. Photojournalists need to make a living too and I'd rather be a giver than a taker.

I'll make the connection and probably get it. If allowed, I'll be very happy to share with everyone. This is starting to become a story that somehow will have a happy ending.

Stay tuned !!

I have an original 4 page promotional piece for the 289 Cobra. On the front page is a beautiful white 289 with an elegant lady standing next to it. She has long white gloves, high heels and a tiara!!! on her head. I don't get it, but there it is. At the top it says -- Buy it ..... Or watch it go by!!!

On the 4th (last) page there is a picture of Shelby in a suit kneeling at the front of the car looking away from it. The page has Road and Track road test data.

I don't have a scanner. Could this be the picture you are looking for?

Jack

Jack, that might be it. I thought he was standing and the car was behind him in a side shot or a 3/4 shot. I could be wrong. I remember him looking away though.

Fox, the one you shared was probably shot the same day. This is the way I remember him being dressed and the way he was looking. The dark slab sided car behind him but a side shot. Nice picture the one you found.

I tried the e-mail for Wallace Wyss but it didn't work. Did some searching and don't have a contact for him. Anyone know how to reach him?

In the pictures I have he is wearing a black suit - black jacket, tie, and pants. It appears to be a white car.

Anyway, if you think this could be what you are looking for and want to see it, send me a PM with your address and I will mail you a copy.

Jack

It may have been a white car. It may have been the car that got painted all those different colors. The thing I really remember about it is that it's a slab side w/ wires and whitewalls.

PM sent.

Still can't get through on the email. Will call. Thanks for that.
