MO Registration Process
I am getting ready to go throught the entire registration process in Missouri. Therefore, I thought I would start a thread about the process.
I have just finished my car and once I felt pretty comfortable that I could make an appointment, I called the Highway Patrol. Since I live in Kansas City, I had two choices for Highway Patrol inspections (St. Joseph and Lees Summit). I chose St. Joseph as they are suppose to be easy to work with and understand our cars. I called and made the appointment and it was about 4 weeks until the next available appointment date. The Inspector stated she needed the following:
1. A bill of sale for my kit - and/or a transfer of ownership
2. A notarized bill of sale for my engine (which includes the FE engine S/N)
3. Since my kit came with a toploader - they only needed a S/N for my tranmission
4. A DOR 551 form
5. Receipts for the big ticket items (will bring all receipts)
We have had some issues with being able to read the S/N on the engine. Would strongly recommend you write down all numbers from engine and transmission before installing in car. The inspector must have these numbers ahead of appointment to do research to determine if the engine or transmission has been stolen. I called a few days after making my appointment to start working on numbers.
My appointment is set for late Apr. I hope to add to this thread as I move along the process. Hopefully, it will be helpful to others.
