Default filing up gas tank

I have a 20 gallon tank and it seems as if I can only fillup to half a tank.

I have a vent tube but it still does not seems to be allowing it vent out the air when filling.

Has anyone else experience this issue?

Where does your fill tube enter the tank? On mine it was on the side and about 8 inches down so I had to wait for that last 1/4th tank as the vent tube was very slow to vent the air out. I had to be very careful to not have it kick back out of the intake until the air slowly bled out. Sometimes shaking the car seemed to make it faster. I couldn't feel any air coming out, but by taking a flashlight and looking down the fill tube I could see the gas slowly going down as the air bled out and the gas forced its way into the tank. My vent tube came out the top of the tank also.

Is that the vent tube on top? Do you know if it goes down inside the tank or if it stops at the top surface?

The vent tube stops at the top of the tank.

A friend point out that the filler tube is midway on the tank. Maybe thats the problem?

I have seen other tanks from EM created the same way. I can not explain as to why EM did this but other are constructed the same fashion. I hope I am not the only one after 10 + years to have this problem

Your vent tube is probably pinched or folded. You can get the spiral stuff to put in the tube to prevent it from collapsing (like on vacuum lines). You can actually make your own with some SS wire from the local hardware store, wind it up on a dowel or piece of round stock, then shove it in there.
