Default Holley Tuning DVD Worthwhile?

The title pretty much sums it up: I recently replaced my induction setup and want to know if Holley's tuning DVD is worthwhile.

A little background, I have a Ford Racing 345 horsepower 302 with 10,500 miles on it. I replaced my Edelbrock Performer RPM/Holley 600 vacuum secondary setup with a 2x4 Blue Thunder intake with a pair of Holley 450s.

It pulls strong and I've already reduced the primary jets two sizes due to our altitude (~4700 feet) and went from 8.0 power valves down to 6.5" Hg power valves from measured manifold vacuum. (Measured it at around 11".)

I didn't find anyone over at the FFR forum that had experience with the Holley DVD and was hoping for a better result here.

Thanks.

Hi Jim

I purchased the DVD and found it very useful in explaining how to go about setting up your carbie.

However, practially all the (core) information in the DVD is available in PDF format from the Holley web-site.

If you are anything like me and need a reference from time to time while you're in the middle of a job having the instruction printed out and being able to flick around them is arguably of greater value.

What the DVD has is video of a guy actually performing the operations described. I think that demo are a pretty good education tool.

I got the dvd also; you don't get much more than the video you can get from the website; it wasn't worth the $20 imo.

Sounds to me like you already have the working knowledge to properly tune your Holley.Too many times way back when, I would doubt my ability only to find I was dead on.This was based on a certified Holley tuner.

Put it over the aircleaner stud on either carb to block off all airflow and test drive---then switch it to the other one and drive it--leave it on which ever carb that makes that little 302 run best with 450cfm carb. When you find which carb runs best , glue the dvd to the garage wall!!!!
If you want the dual quad look----block off the seconaries of both carbs, or if creative, just block one and run linkage so it acts like 3 x 2s.
