Default Dean's Hurricane - First start video!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hubkJ9Qn0IY

There is the link to the first start. It is truly the first start. I wanted to show how easy it is to start a new engine and sync the Weber's and set the timing. It is so loud! This is with true open pipes. Turns out that isn't really practical.

I hate these moments because somehow it isn't broke until you try to start it. Once it starts, it could go either way.

Enjoy the video! (I didn't know how to change the intro. It comes with the camera)

You were doing a great dance, good explanation but where's the fender covers??? I kept waiting for one of those screwdrivers to drop out of your hand..........

Fender covers? How about "Where's the ventilation?" I'd have some huge fan blowing or sucking fumes out of the garage.

Beautiful car Dean. Congratulations.

The tape doesn't do justice to how loud that car is. The ventalation is ok. The two 14 foot garage doors are open and I have large industrial ceiling fans moving the air around. Initially it was so rich that my eyes were watering but I screwed the mixture screws in about 1/2 turn and that helped a lot.

I would have moved this car outside prior to first ignition. I had a fire many years ago with a '72 Vette. Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.

Sorry to hear about your Corvette. Its important to keep plenty of fire extinguishers close for just that reason.

You are not kidding. I put that fire out with a gallon of milk. It's all I had handy. Could never get the smell of scalded milk out of that car.

Great job Dean. It's about time someone did a tutorial on how to start a car with webbers.

By the way this was not staged it was an absolute first start. Now get the thing finished for Run N Gun. This year you're going to do more than just talk!

Fender covers? I already scratched it months ago. As soon as it is on the road it has an appointment with it's plastic surgeon for a little clean up. It is really hard to keep a black car from getting some surface scratches or worse. It will look like new before anyone sees it.

Maybe you should wait for the clean up touch up until after Run And Gun

Dean,
Nice car. Question. What camera were you using and what seetings were you filming at? I got a Hero Pro and at the HD setting, posting a video of 2GB size if not easy...short. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dean, Nice job and great video. Just can't beat the sound of an FE motor...love those fumes and the low rpm "cackle". It's early morning here in Havasu and I'm going out to drive my Hurricane very soon, cuz it's only 90 degrees and cloudy.
Keep on doing it. Bill

Now all you have to do is get those new quietier side pipes installed so you can drive it in town. Save those loud bad boys for the track.
