Reworked fire truck.
There are a lot of old C Series fire trucks for sale. One issue is they are usually geared pretty short. Current NFPA specs call for a 50 MPH limit on fire equipment. Still, if you swap the gears in the Eaton rear you could cruise at 70.

Pretty cool Cobra hauler but I think that I will stick with what I have come up with. Especially for cross country trips. No need for the motel room.

I have this for sale.
Can be converted into a combination motor home/car hauler. Ford E Series chassis with an air pusher axle, 460 V8, generator and more. Needs tires and brakes as it has been parked since 2000. Under 30,000 miles. Starfire fiberglass motor home from ElDorado Corp. It even has provenance! I towed a GT40 to the 1989 Watkins Glen reunion with it.
Has full bath, kitchen, roof air, class III hitch with brake controller and more. Will need a complete re-do inside but the exterior will buff up and the aluminum wheels will polish out. I would do it if I had the time, but I don't as I have other fish to fry. Belongs to a friend of mine and I have committed to sell it for him.
The rear can be cut and hinged for vehicle access. These were used commercially as well, a local radio station had one as a mobile broadcast studio and several companies had them outfitted as mobile sales office/showroom units.
I can provide more pictures as required. Resides in Buffalo, NY.
Email or PM for details.

Brent,
The hauler was in Bozeman to return a car from the Going To The Sun rally. Most of the drivers took the route east of Towsend, through the canyon and then south to Bozeman, following the Shields River valley. They arrived around 5:00 or so Saturday evening and headed for home the next morning.
Jim Dolan had his 427SC; I didn't get the name of the driver of an early 289 Cobra with AC badging on the trunk. Several early Jags-XK120, 140 and 150. A couple of Ferraris', including a ratty, well-worn California. A Kurtis roadster topped the field. Scarey looking thing. An unfortunate driver woke to an icy parking lot in Idaho and slid his early 356 Carrera into a post in the parking lot. No harm to the driver but for a shattered self-image.
The rally is an annual event. Replicas are welcome although spots on the rally are limited and coveted. If you'd like to go, be sure to reserve an entry before November. The 2010 route emphasized eastern Montana. Next year's route is likley to feature the western side of the state, with a run through Glacier Park. The rally always begins and ends in Bozeman.

I still like the trailer Peter Brock came up with. The Aerovault...If I didn't already have an enclosed hauler, this one would be on the top of my list!

Brock's hauler is absolutely stunning and light to be sure. This C800 is more interesting from a vintage standpoint....something about it in person really was cool. I loved it.

Reminds me of the time a buddy asked me to go with him to look at an old Mustang for sale.......the car was a rust bucket and priced at about 4 times what it was worth.
The owner and his beautiful blonde wifey came out and when the discussion got around to the price, my buddy asked and I quote, "for that price, I'm guessing your wife comes with the car?????"
it was hilarouis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are curently 2 of those firetrucks for sale just up the road. When I talked to the guy about 4 months ago either one could be had for less than $2K. I think the '59 (y-block) was $1,200 and the '65(?)(FT) was around $1,500. They were both "drivers" and had come from a Fire Dept in Michigan. He also had all the manuals and probably maintenance records.
4 months later I bet he'd take a lot less. I have a 24' 2000 V10 E450 RV that I'm thinking about transferring the drivetrain and RV aspects from, if I don't sell it.

All kidding aside, they really were ahead of their time.....Got great write ups, but the company seemed to stumble due more to management than the product they offered. I can remember going out to an SGI meeting in San Jose, California and getting picked up in one of these (the company had two of them for such use), it was converted to a stretch limo, had a few TV's, built in video game consoles, kick ass stereo system, and a decent bar/fridge/food/snack area......If I had the room for it, and a use I could justify with the wife, I'd be on the phone with you in a heartbeat.

If you look close it says "Private Not For Hire" on the trailer. I guess their were problems with the DOT even in the 60's
