CSX2136 a short interesting story.

For those who don't already know about this this stunningly beautiful 289 LeMans Cobra, here's a nice short read. It tells of a long successful race career and an ignoble retirement followed by indignity and abuse before rescue, vindication and restoration to righteousness. :3DSMILE:

I hope Mike Leicester, who committed fraud by building a phony car and claiming it was the real one, enjoys the fact that this story gets retold year after year after year, ad infinitum.

Me too....

She's grown prettier with age.

Hmm, I bet it must have a salvage title. A potential buyer might be able to use that in price negotiations... :JEKYLHYDE

I can just imagine what she must have been thinking as she listened to you try to convince her to let you buy that old heap!

Bill Murray (and his brother Dave) have a shop just down the road from here, and are also two of the key people that keep the Shelby American Collection Museum alive. Dave is there every (well almost every) Saturday.

I have seen the ad "For sale, CSX2136...never raced or wrecked"

I remember well that SAAC convention and the car. I also remember tossing a hub nut off the AC MK IV I had there on the way back to the Jersey hotel (ex Playboy hotel) from the Pocono track, into a freshly mown hayfield !!!! And that was after I lost a windshield on a pizza run the first night there!

And 300 miles of fast laps at Pocono didn't do the nose paint any good either....that was $1500.00 of repaint and a whole lot of 'splaining! "Well, the roads in Jersey have lots of gravel and this school bus I was following was tossing a lot of it. Race track???? No, I don't remember any race track being near......"

Buzz,

Great story thanks for sharing, I had not read this before.

Glad in the end the original the CSX2136 was resurrected and recognized for it's historical significance. It's one beautiful car!

The number caught my eye as well … I have ERA 2136 in process :)
