Just to elaborate on my previous comment about whether a Merlin V-12 would fit in a Cobra (No), the Merlin 61 (as used in the P-51) is over 7 feet long, over 2 1/2 feet wide, and just over 3 feet tall with a weight of over 1600 pounds (dry). Still, 1500+ horsepower (on 100 octane avgas) is nothing to sneeze at!
