Jamo says... I'm not pretty when I'm annoyed.

And like you are when you're not... I miss the fun my friend,

Mdman352 02-19-2011 05:51 AM

Jamo,thank you

Cobra must best Tommy's time by .1999. This is doable with preparation. A local BDR with a 427TW did 11.5 on street tires. Game on:eek:

I deal with the first amendment every damn day...it's a highly overrated concept to begin with, and it ain't what some folks think it is. It most certainly does not apply here...this is a private site.

You're welcome for the civics lesson.

I've been chewing on union ass all week...first at an election, and for the past two days in negotiations...and I just walked in after driving home from Napa for five hours in heavy wind and rain...with morons driving in the left lane that simply need to lose their right to gravity and float off this rock.

So, do you think I'm in a good mood after reading this crap?

Machiavelli just came back on after being banned for the past week, which was a warning to him for disrupting this thread. We don't like to permanently ban folks unless we have to, so I'm giving him a second chance and again only banning him for a limited time...

Blitz...esh ;) ...making comments about the mods concerning this thread? Really? Why don't you have a bit of a discussion with Tommy about the attention we've given this thing since day one...well before you came on. I trust Tommy will assplain to you why Machiavelli was banned this last week.

Also, since you're a FNG, you might not know that you can use the little red triangle in the upper righthand corner of each post...it reports the post directly to the mods. Someone finally did, and I came on within a half hour of receiving it. I would've banned him immediately using the iPhone, but as noted above, I was a bit preoccupied with driving.

That being said...everyone get back to the fun. Thanks.

Wow, I just got told... I stand corrected, the mods are obviously on top of ****. Well done, sir. Updates will follow as I get em. I am in Tampa hanging with the fam, but I should be headed back to vegas soon to start getting some seat time in the cobra and will keep you boys posted.

Good Man Blitz.

Blitz You may have to slip your clutch some and apply the accelerator as much as possible and get to those shift points as soon as you can.
Remember, commit to a shift, don't play around ( I would power shift (if the shifter is up to it) and crack back on the gas pedal a little and get right back into applying the gas as needed). sometimes granny shifting fast hangs up a TKO.
Could you post your type of transmission and clutch, and rear gear ratio again.
Half shafts worry me a little. If one breaks, whooooa look out!!
This is going to test your car especially if the track has some moose juice on it.
Practice means alot and it will strain your parts too.
I'm ready for this.
My daughter is in the AIR FORCE at Nellis AFB. I may send her there to observe if she can.
Lou

I'll be there.

All -

Folks should hold off before making any travel plans. It turns out that I have to do an event at the Library of Congress on March 8 but my assistant hadn't put in my calendar. So Blitz is kindly looking into the 9th.

Buzz 02-19-2011 01:17 PM

Thanks for the heads up Tommy. It's actually better for me if its moved back a couple of days. Keep us posted.

Excaliber 02-19-2011 05:25 PM

Darn, I just hate when the Library of Congress messes with a good race.

:) :)

I lived in D.C. for eight years, by the way, Georgetown U. Go Team!

tin-man 02-19-2011 10:00 PM

Heads up guys...........

Tommy, good to know, BTW I checked with a John Motley VP Public Relations of the Raceway and received the following message:

John:

Your best bet to get to the speedway is a rental car. Buses don't run to the speedway.

The speedway is about 20 minutes north of the Strip at Exit 54 on Interstate 15.

Since this is a private event, you will need permission from one of the two racers to be given admittance to the facility.
Regards,

Jeff Motley
Vice President of Public Relations
Las Vegas Motor Speedway
7000 Las Vegas Blvd. N.
Las Vegas, NV 89115
(O) 702-632-8266
(M) 702-210-4158
(F) 702-644-7774

So, not sure how you want to handle the invite for those folks who plan on attending the race, its your call.

Cheers, John, AKA, tin-man

tommygold 02-20-2011 06:58 AM

Hi T-M. I expect we'll want to do whatever takes up the least of our time in terms of getting people in. Maybe we'll let people email my assistant, or something. We'll work it out, though. Unless Blitz has a different view, all are welcome. -Tom

tommygold 02-20-2011 05:32 PM

One update for those playing close attention. For the practice runs, I didn't use Launch Control because I didn't believe it would shift gears for me. Turns out that isn't true. So I can use LC and start from 3500 rpms. I plan to drop the rear tire pressure by about 5-10 psi to make sure I grip. But that should give me a much better start. If I can find some time to get to a track, I'll post the results. -Tom

dbn04 02-20-2011 07:25 PM

tommy,
does that mean you just dropped 50k ?

http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...ht=50k&page=39

or are you gonna get your asssistant to pay it!

Keithc8 02-20-2011 07:43 PM

Wish I could drive the Cobra

Boy I wish I could drive the Cobra since I built the engine and car. Not many seem to give him a chance. Maybe I should get some of the action with the Kirkham I have. Sounds like to much fun to me. I would like to take a few months off. Good luck to all involved.

Keith

Excaliber 02-20-2011 09:23 PM

Rumor has it, Keith likes those 2nd gear starts. I doubt the clutch would live long enough to complete three runs though. Oh wait, you only have to win ONE.

Hell yeah, 2nd gear baby, cook the clutch not the tires! :)

tommygold 02-21-2011 07:40 AM

Keith! Don't leave us hanging like that! Tell us about the car. Blitz professes great ignorance (in so many things). The race is booked, so no harm can be done. -Tom

Did not go back and check the numerous replies in the two threads, but in case someone did not view :
