Ron (Computerworks) posted the Ferrari Forum thread earlier in this thread, but the Ferrari guys weren't too in to it. Drag racing is such blue collar sport you know.
No wine and cheese crowd over here. |
So Blitz, did you ever end up using a tire warmer like we talked about?
Traction was a HUGE concern of mine, power was never really a question. Well done!!! Ernie |
Nice work, Blitz. Based on the one video, your car left HARD. Tremendous prep and driving on your part, and the Ferrari wasn't a slouch either. Enjoy your spoils, and (since no one else has said it yet), your girlfriend and her friend were both smoking hot, too. I bow to your world. :D

Congrat Blitz, no shocker for me! Watching super cars like Ferrari's pull a win off in a drag race against good ole American Thunder is like someone siteing a UFO. Everyone swears they seen it, everyone knows they are out there, but no video, no photos and no proof.
I guess the people who were praising the Ferrari and quoting all of those worthless magazine test specs will walk away empty handed again with their head down - and almost all will say "Well, deep inside I was going for the Cobra", yeah right. Yet another conclusion of a tall tale with super-car computer controls, flip shift, Italian engineering and all who walks away win-less. And people who often go to these amateur drag race events know exactly what I am talking about. Congratualtions Blitz, you just made my car that much more enjoyable this weekend. |

Congrats to both. Provided a great mental vacation and also great to see that
there are still great sportsmen around. A class act, and Buzz - that was an excellent narrative of the event - thanks. Looking forward to the video. |
So near yet so.....
Nice job Blitz!!
I live here in Las Vegas. I'm so bummed out. Joined the forum yesterday and found this thread today. :( |
What happens in Vegas lives on in photos!
It all seems like it happened so fast and especially after last night, details are a bit hazy so I'll try to remember best as I can how it all went down.
The Blitzforce Cobra looked awesome in the paddock http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...ce_kirkham.jpg Tommy's Ferrari is a star in its own right and drew lots of longing stares. when Blitz fired up the Cobra, though, silence fell over the crowd. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...ld_ferrari.jpg For safety reasons, the bra toss was nixed. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...o_bra_toss.jpg Dan appeared pissed... http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/data/500/blitz.jpg Gary Patterson had words of encouragement.. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...blitz_gary.jpg "We brought flags.." http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...ellagirls2.jpg Flags it is then! http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...rella_girl.jpg Dan's Beautiful girl, Jess had to ride in the Ferrari. She refused to gain weight before the race and nobody liked my suggestion that she carry two 50lb dumbells in her purse. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/data/500/jess.jpg Even as Tommy and the 458 cooled down between runs, the writing was already on the wall. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../warriors2.jpg I thought the flag next to the emblem on this FFR in the paddock looked nice and I just had to get a pic. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../bombshell.jpg Some details may have been different, but you get the general idea. :) |
Blitz congratulations! All the time I've been reading this tread I kept thinking about David Williams' pass in his Excalibur Cobra.
http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...hreadid=100401 I hope I never meet up with you in a poker game! **) |
There is talk of a road course bet in a few weeks....................
|
Buzz,
Thanks for the details and pictures. Can you post a few more of the emblem on that FFR? :D |

(and I just realized it wasn't even an FFR!) http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...bombshell2.jpg |
Buzz,
Great camera work and nice photos :D ... you certainly captured the essence of the event :):) |

Ernie, you were concerned about traction...They mopped the track down with resin just before the runs started. FWIW, when Tommy was idling forward to stage the track was so sticky you could hear the resin sticking to the tires and popping like he was driving through bubble gum or a hot tar treatment on the track. The traction was REAL good.

Dan...nice girl...she cook good? I give you two sheep and a goat for her.
Ok...maybe two goats. One has nice eyes. Buzz...get off your ass and do some art work. |
Thanks for that tip on the traction mr0077. That was no doubt a key factor that would have played more into Dan's hand than Tommy's.
By the way, do we know YET what freakin' tires Blitz is running on the Kirkham???? That has been a mystery since these two threads started. |
