What do I need to get my Factory Five on the road in New York?

It was titled and on the road when I was living in SC.

Helps to know what it is titled as (as asked above), but NY state will usually take the car title at face value. You may still have to go through a state inspection (to make sure the car/and/or parts are not stolen).

This page will tell you a bit more on the process:

Default Future new yorker cobra owner

Dear Future NewYorker to be:
I just registered my 1965 West Coast Cobra form CA. You do not need a title in NYS if the car is 1973 or older. The fact that it was registered at another state is your proof of ownership.

The DMV will keep for their records your title but will not issue you one. Only the registration and a 10 day temp inspection sticker. Your inspection is a safety inspection for $10.00 any station of inspection will do that.

Bring your insurance id card before going to DMV and lots of patience they are exasperating as any other DMV.
Where in NYS will you reside? I am in Rockland County 15 miles North of NYC.
Welcome to the Empire State
Sincerely
Lou

I grew up in Suffolk Countly on Long Island. Remember it in the 50s. Left in 1981.

Hope your dad is ok, . . . No one should have to go to New York, only away from New York.
