Default Kirkham KMP021 on Ebay

I noticed this Kirkham on Ebay today. Item # 250797407553. Early Kirkham with the original style suspension and not the Alum Billet susp. Does anyone know anything about this Kirkham? How are the original Kirkhams compared to the newer models? I really like the look of this cobra. What is a reasonable fair price for this Kirkham? I would want info on the motor before any commitment to buy. I have seen alot of 427 SO engines that were not to my liking in terms of good components used in the build. Any advise or info would be greatly appreciated.

I personally think this is a better buy! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966-...f63828d5#v4-32 WOW!! I thought I'd seen some rough cars out there! This looks like one of those early hot rods that started everything. REMEMBER, all the hard work is done already! After spending time talking with you, I think this car is perfect Now if the Kirkham comes with the items in the last few photos, that might be the deal breaker!! Thanks again for everything! Regards, Matt

I love all black.

The Registry doesn't show much other than to say that the car was painted black, it was purchased by Chuck Gutke from Kennesaw, GA and it was delivered on 4/1/98. Hey, exactly 13 years ago.

Looks great!

Definitely get the options shown in the last 2 pics. They make the car.

Yea, the last 2 options are the deal breaker. At 57, if the car doesn't kill me the last 2options certainly will. But, what a way to die, either way. So what do you feel is a realistic number for this car considering the economy? Anyone know what options and equipment came with this car from Kirkham. Is the older model Kirkhams with the orig style susp worth anymore money or are they more collectable? Thanks again for all the info.

It'll take the undertaker a week to get the smile off your face.

Here's another current listing of a Kirkham on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Other...item230f129e38

Keith Craft was trying to sell a Kirkham for around $100K for a long time.

I would say that each individual buyer will have their own preferences between the early and later Kirkhams. I personally prefer the modern lighter billet aluminum suspension, Kirkham electronic gauges, battery in the trunk, TKO 5-speed and an aluminum 482. Many others will prefer the Toploader, cast iron sideoiler, Smith gauges, original suspension and battery behind the seats, etc.

Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry choices. It's a beautiful car from the pics. As for value, I'd say $80,000-$100,000, but the paint job would have to be really nice.

Yea, I noticed that Kirkham on ebay. Price appears way to high though. $118,000. Only 1 offer and unknown what the offer was. There was 1 on Ebay about 3 weeks ago. It ran for 2 weeks. Brushed Alum with 427. high bid was only about $66,000 and it didn't sell. I have a call in to the owner of this Kirkham to discuss and make him an offer. We'll see where it goes from there. In this economy, I just don't know what to expect for value on this Kirkham. Chris Craft was attempting to sell that new Kirkham with one of his motors for $95,000 and it appears he couldn't sell it. Waiting for a call to proceed.

The devil is in the details such as casting numbers and dates, paint quality, etc.

Assuming it all checks out, all it really needs is some magnesium Halibrands and it would be perfect.

Original style suspension is a $16k upgrade on Kirkhams currently.

I'm seeing these cars too, and it seems like they're not moving quickly. An aluminum CSX car moved real fast last week in the high 90's. I called on it and the first person to look at it purchased it.

This car must have been relisted. I can't find the earlier auction now.

Yes, it has been relisted. Seller states Ebay made him remove the listing because of the last 2 photos of the girls. I spoke to the seller on Friday evening. Seems like a nice guy. Waiting to see how high this thing goes before jumping in and possibly bidding. The Shelby Cobra went for $97,500 which was the buy it now price. The Shelby appeared to be alittle nicer then this one. We will now get to see what the Shelby name and csx vin# is worth on these cars as both appear to be very close to equal in every detail.

We've gone through the numbers before on a different thread, but keep in mind that a base roller with no paint from Kirkham is $57,000 and a base aluminum roller w/paint from Shelby is about $120,000. Although in this case, the original type suspension on the Kirkham is now a $16,000 upgrade.

Nonetheless, there should still be a $10,000-$20,000 +/- premium for the CSX in this example.

I agree. I figured the Shelby CSX would be worth about $15,000 to $20,000 more then this Kirkham. The seller was wanting to get something closer to the price that the Shelby went for. I hoped that if I could get the Kirkham for $75,000 or so, I would pull the triger and own it. Rodknock: I'm putting a 68 sideoiler to the side for a Kirkham or CSX. Forged OEM crank, Lamans rods and Medium Riser heads with a 4 bbl OEM manifold. This should make a nice engine package for a roller, if I buy a roller. I know of 1 or 2 Kirkham rollers I can buy which are set up for a FE. Both are polished and I don't know if I want to then strip one down to paint it. Just being patient and seeing what happens, but boy am I getting impatient. Both the rollers have the billet susp also and I'm not sure I want the billet susp. I like the orig style susp package alittle more. Rusty Bob: How are you doing? Is the rain and mud slides an issue where you are in California? I hope all is well for you. The other Bob Q.

If you prefer the original type suspension, then the one plus is that the suspension on the Kirkham should be near original spec, where the CSX probably is/was not. Not having seen either car, who really knows.

With those Cammers lying around, I'd be thinking very hard about installing one of them in those Kirkham rollers. Why pay extra for the polished Kirkham roller, when you can get a brand new roller with the file finish and work from there on painting? Unless the polished Kirkham rollers are really cheap.

I do hope the black Kirkham sells for lots of money.

I'd buy a Kirkham ahead of a CSX...

Reason: I wouldn't buy a re-badged mazda, if I new ford made it or vice versa, and you'll save the dollars

Best of luck either way, you'll enjoy the ride I'm sure!

I spoke to The people at Kirkham about installing a cammer in one of their rollers I found. They advised me of major modifications needing to be done and felt it is best for them to do the mods. I felt the addt'l cost of mods plus the loss of sale for one of the cammers to my friends widow was alittle to much for me at this time. The cammers and most of the FE stuff isn't mine and will be sold this spring/summer to help the widow with her future financial security. My brother and I purchased a complete cammer, 427 SO highriser, 406 tripower and 289 hipo to restore and display with our Mopar musclecar motors. This leaves me alittle short of money right now to do all I want with a Cobra without dipping into my retirement fund which my investor is reluctant to agree to. No B.S. just the truth. But boy, I do love a alum cobra and will need to rearrange things a bit to get one. Means selling my BDR and the Classic Roadster II but I think its worth it. Rodknock: Call me sometime if you like and we'll talk cammer talk. PM me and I'll send you my ph #'s. Boy, a man and his dreams can get alittle frustrated.

Appears this car didn't sell with a high bid of $77,000.
