Default Stack EFI

This stack system is from Very Cool Parts. We chose Accell Gen7 to run the EFI and ignition systems. It has been very reliable, but needs to be tuned on a dyno for maximum performance. Tuning may be easier if you can get a wide band O2 sensor for the EFI.

Contact Wayne Presley at Distributor of the Coolest Parts for the FFR He know a lot about the systems, knows what works and what doesn't, and can help you pick the rights heads and cam to go with it.

Does running one of these systems improve mpg?
if so, anyone know by how much?
I have heard some excellent figures on power output and mpg for people running the Chevy LS7 engines, but obviously thats full EFI.

Does anyone know of any good installers/tuners in the Dallas/Ft Worth area for Stack EFIs or Webers?

Yes, they can improve MPG, by metering the fuel more accuratly for each situation. A carb has 3 metering circuits, and is dependant on vacuum signals. It is not capable of adjusting for altitude, weahter, tep, etc. EFI has hundreds of fuel points, and can adjust for all those variables.

How much depends on the engine, it's state of tune, the EFI tune, use, etc.

My 427W has high compression and a huge cam, it makes around 600hp and on the race track it's a real monster. I drove it to Jackson Hole last summer. Had a great trip, it ran great on pump gas, and got 20mpg. On the street it's just a real joy to drive.

When building my car was seriously considering Webers, the more I dug for info the more I heard about the headaches keeping them tuned. Now that the EFI is mainstream, what is available for filters that would look good and work on the Stack EFI's?

You have a few choices, but not many. On the street I have some oval K&N filters in billit alum housings. But they were custom made by the company that made my throttle bodies, and they're no longer around.

On the track I use open trumpets. I overhaul the engine at least every two years. There is no measurable wear in the cylinder bores or crank journals.

Pierce Manifolds hase some nice screen filters that don't restrict air flow.

Traditionally, people used a "Tea Strainer" filter on top of a trumpet. But, those cost me 100hp, proven on the dyno.

Must stack EFI throttle bodies are made to fit filters and trumpets for Weber carbs. So find a Weber filter that fits your needs.

Anyone have a ballpark figure on horsepower gain with the Inglese stack ez efi would be? The motor is a 351w with about 370hp with an Edlebrock 750 on it now.

Thanks, Little Wave..

If the engine is properly tuned for power right now, you will see no (zero) increase in power. Proper tune is proper tune...

If it is not properly tuned you may get an increase after tuning, but that is from the tuning, not the EFI.

Theoretically, EFI can produce only slightly more power, because it can operate under conditions where the manifold vaccuum (pressure) approaches atmospheric and carbs require a pressure drop to get a signal, but in practice this is inconsequential.

What you can benefit from is improved throttle response and the computer can adjust for altitude and temperature changes. I also find I like being able to re-tune portions of the map without having to worry about transfer slots, emulsion, air bleeds, main jets and power valves. All those compensators on a carburetor work together as a compromise, so one change may benefit one region of performance, but screw-up another... With EFI, just type in a new injector time on the map and away you go - the result is exactly what you expect and has no compromise effects!

Good Luck!
