Must Sell Right Now

Had similar experience. Years ago I had just bought a "newly used" 69 Datsun 2000 Roadster with big carbs, a cam, and loud exhaust. I was at a stop light in town on a Friday night and a Porsche 911 next to me wanted to give it a go.

We did.... I lost.... Got pulled.

I jabbered on about how I JUST bought the car, and insisted on opening the hood so the deputy could admire my new hardware. He let me go with a warning. :D

Heard this a little while ago about a cop pulled over a young kid for speeding. He told the kid he was waiting for someone like him all day. The kid told the cop he got there as fast as he could !! Kid got a warning. Jim

Yeah try that one. How about you try NO SIR and YES SIR. Sorry I put YOUR life in danger SIR. (more Cops are killed in car crashes than any other function.) I will be more alert and concerned from here on out.

I would sure hate to be one of the ones who had a LEO killed while he was trying to catch up to me being a selfish speed dork. There is a time and place for every thing.:D

I'm pretty new here, but I gotta ask, did you set up an account just to dress us down? You understand that this is a fast car forum.

Archrms 04-28-2011 01:21 PM

.....and I could have hit 100 if you hadn't pulled me over :p

JBCOBRA 04-28-2011 01:27 PM

Had an officer say: "Your merging onto the highway was spectacular!":D

digginfool 04-28-2011 01:29 PM

I wonder what excuse you could use to get out of 163 mph in a 70 zone. Luckily, I didn't have to but just saying... ;)

JBCOBRA 04-28-2011 02:03 PM

About all anyone could say is: "Do I get one phone call?":LOL:

Guys,

Just after I bought a Ford GT I was mergeing onto the freeway and got behind a gravel truck, Immediately I did some quick lane changing and got past the truck. Next thing I see is lights in the rearview mirror. Pull over and still do not even have my tags. Ins. and Liscense please, YEs SIR. Did you know your were speeding and driving wrecklessly changing lanes with no turn signal? I was just trying to get around that gravel truck so did speed up and was probably going to fast. How about the lane changing with no turn signal? TRUE STORY: I SAID "Well sir, this is one of the fastest cars Ford ever built and it is so fast that sometimes when you turn the blinkers on it will change lanes before it flashes" I got a smile and a Slow it down and be safe out there. Good Guy, really think he just wanted to see the car!

Actually out raising a little caine one morning early on one of my favorite roads with lots of twisties, got a little too wound up.When pulling out onto our Main street no traffic, quickly cranked up through the gears, noticed an LEO parked facing me up in the distance,I slowed back to speed limit quickly. As I cruised on by he was waving his finger and mouthing "slow down".Knock on wood, never had a speeding ticket while in a car.

I get that this is a forum dealing with COBRAS and COBRA related stuff and issues. Did not know it was a forum to bash those who put their lives on the line to keep you and yours safe. Did I dress you down?

CobraEd 04-29-2011 02:32 PM

If a cop ever pulls you over and asks:

"Do you know why I stopped you?"

Tell him:

"That depends on how long you've been following me!"

.

RET_COP 04-29-2011 02:49 PM

You guys crack me up LMAO!! Whats real funny is I can see everyone just typing away without rehearsing or remembering a line from a book. Cobra guys are creative and witty for sure.

I think every one here respects the police, sheriffs, deputies, state troopers, et al. Most of them earn our respect, and if they don't, they still carry a loaded firearm that commands our respect.

I used to drive my Harley 105MPH across a certain large southern city bar-hopping on Friday nights in the 80's just to try and keep up with my two good friends on their OWN personal HDs, who also happened to be uniformed police officers when they were on the clock. One retires with honor this year, after 30 years of admirable service, and the other retires next year after piloting the city police helicopter for the last 25 years.

My point is, no one is intentionally bashing cops here.

392cobra 04-29-2011 05:25 PM

crASH,
I think he has a donut-cop phobia.

Rawkkrawler 04-29-2011 05:31 PM

I seem to remember alot of "Yes sir", "No sir", and "It won't happen again sir". I really need tht speedo closer to the steering wheel.
