Ok I havent weighed mine yet, but I'm sure its on the fatty side... all iron 460, 4 speed toploader, ford 9 inch: anyone have an idea of possible weight savings going to an all aluminum 460 (or FE), tremec, and independent rear end would net?
|
I suppose mine is somewhere in kobrabyte's realm, 2,150-2,200 lbs.
If only I had magnesium wheels-sorry! Old habits. :) |

My car checks in at 2,128 lbs. |
2,350 lbs with half tank (about 20 gal) and my butt in it.
|
Exact Carbon Cobra with a 351W came in at 1784 lbs, no fuel or driver. Hard to get lighter than that!

Rodknock,
If I'm not mistaken, your tires aren't as light as BillBoards. What options do you have/not have? Mine is somewhat minimally appointed. The only fancy extra on my Kirkham is the billet seat tracks for the passenger. I took RedBarchetta for a ride the other week and he couldn't adjust the seat back because of my tool bag. So much for billet seat tracks! Serves him right being so tall. |

My car is fully loaded: A/C, PS, PB, PW, PDL, PA, coffee mug holder, heater/defroster, GPS, bluetooth, heavy aluminum Trigos, etc. What does yours have? :D |
I know what's making my car heavier.
A starter. Couldn't resist with no sign of Chas or Pat. BTW, Austin_Snake....NICE! Wait a minute, why weren't you on the list? :p |

Hey Guys:
I weighed my SPF on a certified truck scale. With windsor, aluminum heads, aluminum manifold, Tremec 5 speed and 1/2 tank of fuel it came in at 2,600 pounds. Do I have the heaviest Cobra ever built or are many of the weights I'm seeing here not accurate? Bob |

i think i'm winning the heaviest prize, if you could call it that, 3250lbs but i must say its not really fair to compare my stallion to the other cobras, my car is larger, with alot more frame members and door reinforcements. having more weight has its share of advantages too. i weighed in at the dragstrip last year with a 1\2 tank of fuel, i barely weigh 150lbs so i don't contribute much to the fatness. |
Larry,
I would like to weigh my car on those same scales..does not make sense a big block would weigh less than a sm. block. Anything stripped down on it? I think the scales used in my case were pretty accurate since he was weighing some mustangs and even a Lightning truck and those weights looked like you would expect. |
Mine was weighed on certified by the state scale. That alone should make you wonder????

I know it’s a few months old but I happened across it.
Xlr8tr, An alum 460 (385 series) is usually between 90 and 160lbs lighter that and Iron version. Austin Snake, HOLY FREAKIN CRAP!! 1784 LBS!! That is incredibly light! Can you give some details: Block, heads, bell housing, trans etc. That is a ridiculously light car, one that deserves study!! Thanks JASON |
