Default Twin Turbo with side pipes, HOW ?

A friend shot only one photo (I wish he had several of the motor compartment) of a cobra that has side pipes and twin turbo's.
How can that be done ?

I assume it's a small blk and custom headers, but how do you place a turbo between the header collectors and the side pipe ?

Default Thats easy you can do it a couple of ways

FUNFER2 It depends on what manifolds you use. If you google a kit for a SBC you will see the turbos are mounted on short headers that come forward. On some cast irom exhaust manifolds on center or comes forward as well. With some cobras that have a straight radiator you have plenty of room to fit everything. Intercooler is the only extra that might need some room in the front opening. The guy from Bell Helio's built a twin turbo. It's like building a twim blower car. Only differents is when the boost comes on and how unset the car becomes. It was a hand full for me with the 452 motor and the Novi 2000 paxton blower. Need some good blow off valves, I go with 3. All it takes is money. Check with squires turbos. They put twin turbos in the back of the car with a custom oiling system. Cool air is the only other issue. I go with a snow water/meth injection system and skip the intercooler. Either way you need a large fuel system and pump or pumps for this kind of setup. 1 lean out and you can kiss the pistons or valves goodby real easy. Rick L.

It's like anything Kevin. If there is a will, there is a way.

There is a lot of room down low. You just need to mock it up and then build it.

I had no idea there are parts out there that would work for the cobras. I'm just interested on how to fab-up a system, not really interested doing it to mine. I would use a Paxton instead, like Carroll's and Bill's original Cobras.

" If there is a will, there is a way".

Yep, all it takes is time & many $$$.

(Rick, I'll call to chat. It's been a while

You are not going to find parts off the shelf for something this. It's 100% custom.

That's where the $$$$$ come in. Unless you have the ability to do it yourself.

No, not off the shelf, but rather parts that will aid in the build for us cobra owners, like the headers Rick mentioned.

From what I've seen on Mustangs, they use the shorty headers and either switch sides or turn them upside down to get them facing forward. I suppose after you have the turbos mounted you could fab a single pipe into 4 like the FF J pipe. Any way you look at it equals a lot of time and money....

I just have flipped FMS shorty headers facing forward on mine which leaves the room to route the piping to the intercooler and the discharge towards the sidepipes.

Sir, you have a serious front end misalignment - you need to fix that.

I can tell you that it is a Hurricane kit and not a standard kit! He has done many modifications and made it his! I was also there to meet up with the owner of this car and to meet him for the first time. He is truly a nice guy with a passion for cars(passed down from his father) and cobra's! He had just finished this car right before this show and is tring to enjoy it some. I am sure he will be informing everyone on how and what was all done very soon.
