I bought mine from Tony D. Branda. First bought them in the black finish, then decided to swap for the open letter/polished fins. No problems with exchanging them. They look great and correct. Check ahead to make sure you will not have rocker clearance problems.

We have one set left (not spoken for) currently at the plater's facility. Call John or Tom at 760-842-2184 for correct single stack cadmium plated FIA covers. Cheers!

Thanks, I didn't do the blue car. That belongs to Lynn Park. The Gray car is mine. I used his car as "inspiration" when putting my Webers together.

Paul, let me know if I can help with anything. Sorry, my cell phone service is bad here but we do have the internet.

Weren't the early comp cars twin stack, followed shortly there after by single stack?

Old thread, new information....Larry is correct that the early cars were twin stack - first photo posted by Rick Parker above. Here’s why - the early cars used the no hole 221-260 (and very early 289 in 1963) style valve covers when these engines had the oil filler in the timing chain cover and used a road draft tube. These no hole covers were also on the 100 or less 260 XHP engines supplied to Shelby American. These no hole early covers are getting tough to find. The second type with the single stack are based on the more familiar 289 style Ford valve cover with the hole in the raised ‘mesa’.

I found steel valve covers at Speedway Motors Auto Parts. They came with one cover, with two filler tubes and the other with none. They were les than $40/pair so I bought two sets and used the covers with the twin tubes. Got the correct breather caps at NAPA and oil recommendation decals on line. I then welded 3/8" nipples to the rear tubes, for PCV ventilation. I did remove part of the baffle in one tube so oil would pour in quicker. (read...I made a mess the first time I poured oil in the tube)
A reasonably priced alternative and I like the looks. My 2¢ worth.
