Distance From the Exhast to Rear Tire?

Hey guys, I am in the process of changing the mufflers on my side pipes and need some help. What is the distance from the end of the exhaust outlet, to the face of the rear tire?

Im open for suggestions mine is currently 5".

I think there's a lot of variability in that. When I welded in new mufflers, I made the tip even with the wheel opening. I think it looks a lot better this way.

You could put the exhaust ends so that they blew directly on the tires. Hot rubber is most times stickier than cold. Do it this way, and pray you don't scatter your engine and have a bunch of oil come out the exhaust. That would make driving just a bit too interesting, me thinks.

Even with 3 inches from the tire, the exhaust would not heat the tire above the normal roll temperature.
Second, if your engine shatters and oil makes it all the way to the tip --- there is not much driving left...
