,,,well I did sell it to a military guy. Wonder what he'll take for it when he has to ship out? Ernie |
|
Hey Ernie, Check out this page. http://www.hnn.navy.mil/Archives/030...how_030620.htm Is this your car? Did you include the 2 accessories the owner is displaying with the car? If so, I might have bought it, if only I had known. |
|
Ernie is keeping a low profile for a while as he deals with the Navy brass trying to get the guy who bought his Excalibur shipped to the other side of the world on short notice so he can buy the car back cheap. Then he can wait a while and sell it again for another profit as soon as the right service person comes along. Don't you guy's recognize a money making car selling job with just one car when you see it?  Ron :D **) :3DSMILE: |

Yup, that IS my car and I DID win the trophy! Jim is my detail man, a Boswains (spelling?) mate in the Navy. On occasion he would take the Excal to his place for a buff and polish. One weekend he called and said the Navy Exchange was having a car show. I said, Cool, take the Excal and I'll meet you there and pick up the car after the show. Well, I was late getting to the show and Jim was having SUCH a good time showing it off AND telling people it was NOT HIS, but hardly anyone cared who owned it, they just loved the car! First Place Peoples Choice, got the trophy. I let Jim get the glory, it was a "military" show and meant more to him than to me. He was pretty stoked getting his picture in the paper! After all, isn't it more about the people than the car? :D Ernie Not to mention the GREAT advertising which eventually led to the sale of the Excal at a "nice price". |

Just saw #115 for sale at a dealer in Frankfurt/Germany. The car is blue with white stripes and has the 302 engine. Eric |
|
Thanks Eric! I need to apologize for not following up on some of these finds. I too have located a couple more but need to confirm MFG #. I'm in the final stages of a new home renovation project and ALL car related activities are on hold. Hope to be in by spring and be ready for another fun filled summer. Tom PS 5 degrees F here in beautiful Wisconsin....Brrrrrrr!:( |

Sorry to be so late joining in, but I've got #109. It doesn't get out much because since I bought it I've spent way too much time away from home. Now that I've stopped that nonsense this toy should be on the road more. Here in the NW it spends Nov - Mar in the garage on blocks. Its yellow with black stripes, has a 302 which gets its first upgrade next week - a racing cam. Its only blemish is a torn seat cushion. (How come women insist on leaping over the side?) |
|
Are they leaping over the side to get in, OR GET OUT??!!! LOL !!! |
|
 Could be both.:p |

What a fantastic site!!:3DSMILE: Thanks guys!! I just finished catching-up on the whole thread and learned much. I bought my car through Costco (no, it did not come shrink wrapped.) They held the westcoast franchise for awhile and sold at least a couple here in WA. Mine was their first and they had to reprogram their register to handle the sale. They made me check it through their cash register and drive it out the door, and yes someone did mark the register ticket. I mention this because Costco suppied me with something that may be unusual and of interest to many... I got about a dozen pictures of my car taken during its construction! I'd be happy to share them with you. Let me know who should get them or where to post them. I also have the Hella Protection system manual - if anybody is interested. A bit more about my car - its got AC and a Sony radio/cassette removeable faceplate unit. I've got a litle more than 6100 miles on its 5.0 HO engine. Rich Bergeon Bremerton, WA |

Hi Rich, Welcome to the club. Hope you enjoy the Excalibur as mush as the rest of us. Feel free to ask for help, it will be forthcoming. Oheck and I both get to mix with some of the old Excalibur employees and can usually get info. That Hella manual is worth it's weight in gold. It's a good security system but if you lose your keys it's a big problem. As I understand it it came with a red master key and 2 regular keys. Somehow the master key programmed the system. Mine came without the master, but I have 2 of the magnetic keys. I feel secure now with one backup, but if I lose one I'm going to get nervous. It would be nice to know the address of the company to see if I can get more backup. Do you think you can generate a digital copy of the manual and get it posted to the site? Again, have fun with the car and welcome aboard. Doug Davies |

Are we talking COSTCO.... as in the discount shopping center place? And they were selling Excaliburs? Now THAT is news to me! Wild stuff. Hey Mr. is it real? Yeah, you'll find them in hardware. ????? :D Ernie |

Today is tomorrow's history! The Excalibur Automobile Company headquarters and manufacturing plant has been vacant for some time and is in the process of being demolished. I enjoyed driving by the place from time to time...kinda like how salmon head up river to their birthplace! Rich...if you can send me those pictures I will get copies made for those who would like to see the workings of the plant. Have you seen the Excalibur Rhona Adams calendar yet? Doug...you coming to Pete's one of these Wednesday Nights? |

Yeah, that is Costco the wholesale outfit. I was totally surprised when the factory routed me to them when I made my inquiry. They had a great looking blue w/white stripe model on the floor of one of the stores and both my wife and I ordered ours on the spot. I'll follow up on the manual and pictures within the next couple of days. Today is the day to get RumblB ready for the public. I did not get the master key for the Hella system either - wasn't even aware of there was one until reading your guys' notes. I'll rest a little easier now knowing someone has one. As for the address... the company's name is Hella KG Hueck & Co. There is a card in German which I think says the address is 59552 Lippstadt. Maybe Eric can confirm. Rich A note for all - Hella says if the system fails its most likely the door switch malfunctioning. |

Guys, Factory pics are ready to go to Ohekk once I get his email. Will scan in the Hella manual tomorrow. Its in three languages. Eric, do you or someone else want the German version? In the manual there is the following telephone number in the German section (0 29 41) 38 71 64. Heaven knows if its still usefull. I think the manual was printed in 1994. (PS Its also in French.) :) Rich |

Factory Pictures and Hella Manual I tried putting the pictures of the factory on my gallery - got two there and ran out of patience, and I've got DSL connectivity!!! I'll try to add them to my gallery over the next few days and let you know when everything is there. I have the Hella Manual scanned in to my computer. If you need it let me know your email id. I'll load the pages to my gallery after I load the rest of the factory pictures. Rich |
